VietNamNet Bridge - This is the most special “market” in Saigon, where buyers and sellers exchange through a fence of more than 2m high.
Because of that characteristic, locals call it “Cho hang rao” (through-fence market).
This unique market is formed at the Pou Yuen Industrial Park in Tan Tao Ward of Binh Tan District.
The trading activities are conducted along the fence stretching over 1km. The market is the most bustling in late afternoon.
Customers area mainly workers in this industrial park, who purchase food and other essential items after working.
Passers-by also stop their vehicles to buy things from the market.
It is inconvenient and uncomfortable, but goods are very cheap and workers can save a lot of time.
However, since trading activities are banned in this area, sellers have to run away with their goods whenever guards come; otherwise their goods will be seized.
The market has existed for years since it meets the needs of the majority of workers here.
