Sapa Street Festival 2013 with the theme "Sapa colorful" will take place on November 11 in the town of Sapa, Lao Cai province. This will be the first large-scale street festival in the resort town with many special activities to celebrate the 110th anniversary of the Sapa tourism.
More than 450 artists and actors will participate in the festival, including 300 students of the Lao Cai School of Culture - Arts and Tourism.
At Sapa market, a Red Dao woman of over 70 years old both sells and make brocade products on the spot.
The street festival will be held in the main streets of Sapa town, where the dances and songs of ethnic Hmong, Dao, Tay, Giay peoples in the themes of Sapa flower forest, Sapa - wine, Sapa panpine, H’mong panpine festival and terrace field culture will be performed.
In addition, visitors will see artisans of traditional villages in Sapa introducing the unique culture of their ethnic groups and taste unique cuisines of Sapa.
The Sapa street festival will be held to promote sustainable tourism, attract tourists to Sapa, honor intangible cultural heritages and contribute to traditional education, conservation and promotion of cultural and ethnic identity.
