China has officially added eSports to the list of sports at the Asian Games 2022. This is considered a historic event for e-sports.

For Vietnam eSports, although the distance between Southeast Asia and other Asian regions is quite far, there are still opportunities that Vietnamese players can grasp to win gold medals for their country.

The biggest opportunity of Vietnam e-sports is Arena of Valor. In the past three World Cups, Vietnam’s Team Flash was once crowned champion in the highest-level tournament system of Arena of Valor.

Although the strength of Team Flash is no longer the same as it was in the past, the domestic Arena of Valor tournament system is still highly competitive enough to create prodigies in the present and in the future.

At the World Cup 2022 held in mid-April, before the 22nd Asian Games that will kick off in September 2022, the Vietnamese team will have at least one more chance to test themselves before the Asiad.

In addition to the host country China, the Korean, Thai and Chinese teams are also big names in the game Arena of Valor. However, the Vietnamese team is evaluated on par with the opponent and has a chance to win the gold medal.

The next game that Vietnam is capable of winning a medal is League of Legends. Vietnam is praised to be the strongest team for League of Legends in Southeast Asia. The biggest rival of Vietnam at the upcoming Asiad is China and Korea.

As for other games like PUBG Mobile and Dota 2, it is said that Vietnam can win a medal if players are further trained and invested in. The current level of Vietnamese players is quite far away from the region, although the time to Asiad 19 is still quite long. While PUBG Mobile is still invested in Vietnam, with a highly competitive domestic tournament system, Dota 2 is considered a 'dead game' in Vietnam, meaning the game has no top players or big sponsors.

For the remaining games at the 22nd Asian Games such as Dream Three Kingdoms 2, EA Sports FIFA, Hearthstone and Street Fighter V, it is said that Vietnam has no chance to win a medal.
