VietNamNet Bridge – A scrap collector who found a handbag containing VND84.5 million (US$3,600) in cash turned it over to the police on Sunday, according to Thap Muoi District police in Dong Thap Province.

Police said that on Sunday Bui Thi Nho found the handbag which contained two watches, many identification papers, and the cash.

Nho turned over the bag to the Thap Muoi District’s police, who found the owner of the handbag after an investigation.

Nho works as a hired labourer and collects scrap to support her family.

In a similar case, Dong Nai Province, the provincial Committee for Emulation and Rewards awarded Thach Thi Tha, 48, a certificate of merit and VND7 million ($300) for turning over a packet of money containing VND100 million($4,290) she had found on the floor of a traditional wet market.

Vy Vu Hong Thao, head of the provincial Committee for Emulation and Rewards, said Tha does charity work at the local pagoda and volunteers to take care of a boy with congenital heart disease.

The police said they found the owner of the cash after an investigation and returned the money to her.
