Vietnam’s U23 football team topped Group B after defeating Laos 3-1 in Indonesia on November 17.
Keoviengpheth made an opening score for Lao in the fourth minute of the match. Lao players missed several scoring chances, meeting strong resistance from the Vietnamese defence line.

After the interval, Vietnamese footballers applied the pressing tactics in the hope of equalizing the scoring. Their efforts paid off in the 64th minute with striker Dinh Tung hammering the ball into the back of the net.

Six minutes later, it was Dinh Tung again who set up for Van Quyet to put Vietnam ahead.

Trong Hoang failed to extend Vietnam’s lead from the penalty spot. However, Van Thang scored the third goal in the last minute, clinching a persuasive victory for Vietnam.

The squad will receive a big bonus of VND1 billion from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

The award was announced after the team trounced Laos 3-1 on November 17 in its final match in Group B of the ongoing SEA Games in Indonesia.

VFF was also committed to granting another VND1 billion if U23 Vietnam defeat the host team, Indonesia, in the semi-final match, which will take place on November 19.
