Security guards, police task force 113 and policemen of Tan Binh district were deployed at domestic and international air terminals.

The Tan Son Nhat Aviation Security Centre has mobilised an additional 40% of personnel on duty at and around the airport.

“We have coordinated closely with relevant agencies such as the port authority, border gate police, customs service, airlines, Tan Binh District Police, and police taskforce 113 to strengthen security checks at places outside the terminals,” said Do Xuan Toan, director of the centre.

“We also enhance inspection and supervision of check-in services for passengers, especially for baggage and hand luggage, as well as security checks inside the terminals and the flight area.”

Security forces have increased the random testing rate for passengers and their baggage to 10% from the previous 5%

Toan said security forces have received support from passengers to ensure all flights are safe.

Security is intensifying at all airports after the Malaysia Airlines plane Boeing 777-300 ER went missing after leaving capital Kuala Lumpur midnight on March 7.

Malaysian officials did not rule out the possibility of terrorism behind the disappearance of the plane.
