The event was held as part of the fourth annual young pioneer festival.
Over 300 delegates from 63 cities and provinces across the country gathered together at Thang Long imperial citadel in order to join in the Semaphore flag performance which took place on August 16.
The flag semaphore aims to convey information at a distance by means of visual signals involving hand-held flags, rods, disks, paddles, or occasionally bare or gloved hands.
The current flag semaphore system makes use of two short poles with square flags, which a signal person holds in different positions to signal letters of the alphabet and numbers. The signaler then holds one pole in each hand, before extending each arm in one of eight possible directions.
The Vietnam Records Organization (Vietkings) announced that the function set a record for being the largest Semaphore flag performance in the nation.
