VietNamNet Bridge – There are a lot of unfinished works which are covered by thick grass in the Dung Quat Economic Zone in the central province of Quang Ngai.

The complex of hotels, restaurants, entertainment facilities of Van Tuong
City, in the Dung Quat Economic Zone, is still unfinished and has been
abandoned for many years. This is a project worth tens of million
of USD by Van Nam Co., Ltd.

The entertainment center for workers of the Dung Quat Shipyard is
decaying day by day, at the middle of the new urban center of Van Tuong.

Though the workshop has been abandoned for a long time, Dung Quat
Shipyard still has two guards there.

Hundreds of hectares of land from abandoned projects have become
cattle grazing land for local people.

This project was kicked off in late October 2007, but until now the foundation
is still unfinished. By early 2012, JFE Steel Corporation decided to contribute
capital with E-United Group (Taiwan) to continue to implement the $4.5 billion
steel project in the Dung Quat Economic Zone. However, the JFE
Group leaders recently said it would cancel the construction of this
steel plant to assess the risk of competition. Thus, hundreds of hectares
of land of this huge steel project will continue to be abandoned in the future.

Co., Ltd. is downgrading each day.

According to the Dung Quat Economic Zone Management Board, most of the
abandoned works in the Dung Quat Economic Zone face financial difficulty
and low investment efficiency. There are at least 15 big projects are abandoned here.
The People’s Council of Quang Ngai Province recently decided to extend
the deadline for "abandoned projects" here for another 6 months. If these
projects are still not implemented after this period, the local authorities will revoke the land.
