VietNamNet Bridge – At noon on December 29, while bathing at the 30/4 beach in Can Gio district, Ho Chi Minh City, seven boys of the Nguyen Binh Khiem secondary school, Binh Duong Street, were swept away.

They were among 96 students of Nguyen Binh Khiem secondary school who joined a tour to Can Gio. The tour was organized by the school.

According to the witnesses, at around 11am, while many boys were bathing at the 30/4 beach, seven were swept away by big waves. Other students informed the incident to the teachers.

The local rescue workers and some teachers immediately searched for the missing students.

At 5pm, the rescue forces found the body of Nguyen Hoang Long, an 8th grader.

The body of the last student, Vo Tan Tai, was found at 6.30am today. All bodies were pushed into the shore by waves, 200m to 1km from the site of incident.

The bodies were handed over to their families for burial after the forensic autopsy procedures.

Mr. Nguyen Van Se, Head of the Dau Tieng district’s Education and Training Department, said nearly 100 students participating in this trip were excellent ones who were selected by the Faculty of History – Geography for the tour.
