VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam's Sai Gon Xuan Thanh (SGXT) defeated hosts Tampines Rover of Singapore 3-2 in the first round match of the AFC Cup 2013's Group H yesterday, March 7.

Nsi Amougou Christian scored a double while Trong Phi pocketed one goal. The S-League champions could only narrow the gap with two goals in the last two minutes.

With three points, SGXT topped the group after the first match.

"It was a surprising but worthwhile win for us. My young players played well. And the victory will encourage us a lot as we go on to the AFC and V-League tournaments," said coach Lu Dinh Tuan.

In the next match on March 13, SGXT will meet East Bengal of India on their home turf. East Bengal defeated Selangor of Malaysia 1-0 yesterday.

SHB Da Nang also grabbed a win when they beat Myanmar's Ayeyawady United 2-1 last week. Da Nang will play Maziya Sports&Recreation of the Maldives next week.
