VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam’s experiences in socio-economic development will be shared at the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia 2012 which is taking place in Bangkok from May 31 to June 1.
A Vietnamese delegation headed by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung is attending the WEF on East Asia 2012 called “Shaping the Region’s Future through Connectivity” at the invitation of his Thai counterpart Yingluck Shinawatra and Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab.
Despite the world economy showing signs of recovery and higher growth from last year, the global crisis remains complex, especially in Europe where the eurozone is facing unforeseeable fluctuations.
At the forum, delegates will focus their discussion on the role of ASEAN’s dynamic economies in re-balancing global and regional economic prospects, the role of governments and organizations in proposing and implementing financial policies to control inflation, transfer of capital, and fluctuations in goods prices, and to ensure balanced growth.
They will also consider how to take full advantage of regional population growth and technological advances in order to improve mechanisms for attracting talents and developing technical facilities.
Within the framework of the WEF on East Asia, regional conferences on India, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa are considered as important forums for delegates to analyze and evaluate development issues in the region.
Judging from world economic developments in the past decades and recent years, East Asia is still regarded as successful in maintaining a relatively high growth despite the great impact of the global economic and financial crises in 2008.
There is no doubt that regional experiences in economic integration and connectivity have become regional and global issues of common concern.
The WEF on East Asia 2010 hosted by Vietnam has received great acclaim from the international community with its theme on “The Rising Role of Asia in Global Development”, leaving a deep impression on senior leaders and the international business community, especially in the context of unfavourable economic fluctuations.
By actively participating in international forums, and successfully organizing important international conference, Vietnam will also share its experiences in boosting socio-economic development, stabilizing the macroeconomy, restructuring the national economy, and attracting foreign investment.
The forum will provide a good opportunity for leaders from various ministries, sectors and businesses to promote Vietnam’s image and raise its role and status in the region.
There is high hope that cooperation between Vietnam and the WEF and the WEF on East Asia will be further strengthened for the sake of regional stability and prosperity.
