Prior to Da Nang, Ewonde had trained and competed for the mountainous football team, Hoang Anh Gia Lai, in BTV Cup 2018.

The 29-year-old is expected to help Da Nang strengthen their defence line.

Earlier, Da Nang had also bought Brazilian striker Diogo Pereira from Becamex Binh Duong.

Born in Sao Paulo, Pereira represented the under-17 team of Palmeiras as a youth. The 1.84m tall player scored three goals for Bình Dương last year. Since 2010, Pereira has played for 13 teams.

Besides Ewonde and Pereira, Da Nang have also signed contracts with three players from PVF centre -- goalkeeper Phan Van Bieu, striker Le Van Diep and defender Lieu Quang Vinh.

As scheduled, coach Nguyen Minh Phuong’s men will open the new league with a match against Quang Ninh at the Cam Pha Stadium on March 10.

The club refused to disclose the transfer fee and salary.

The Brazilian player had competed for Hoang Anh Gia Lai club in 2016, in which he scored five goals. He, however, broke his leg during a V.League match and could not play until the end of the event. He had to return home that year.

After recovering from his injury, Moreira returned to Vietnam in search of job opportunities and made a deep impression on SLNA.

According to SLNA’s leaders, Moreira has good skills and is suitable with the playing method of SLNA players.

At present, the club has only two foreign players, including Nigerian striker Michael Olaha, who competed for Abia Warriors in the Nigeria Professional Football League in 2015. Olaha has been playing for SLNA since January 2017.

In last year’s V.League, SLNA ranked eighth with 34 points after 26 matches.
