VietNamNet Bridge – In the afternoon of August 13, a limestone barge sank after a crash with a cargo ship in Nha Be River, HCM City. Four people on the barge were quickly rescued.

At 5pm, Captain Le Thanh Hung, 43 years old, a native of Can Tho City, was driving a 600-ton barge carrying limestone from Kien Giang to Dong Nai when the barge was hit by vessel Thanh Liem 09, with tonnage of 5,000 tons, which was running in the opposite site.
The accident occurred in the Nha Be intersection in Binh Khanh Commune, Nha Be district.
The crash made a big hole on the barge, through which water flowed in very quickly into the barge and plunged the vehicle. Four people on the barge, including Captain Hung, chief mechanic Vu Hung Thang, 56 years old, two sailors Duong Van Ngon, 56 years old and Vu Van Hoat, 43, were thrown into the river.
Thanh Liem ship is detained for investigation.
Hearing cries, workers of the Dai Minh rescue company who were working closely to the site sent boats to save the four victims.
"The force is strong so all of us were thrown into the water. Thankfully, it happened during the day and the rescue forces were present quickly, otherwise our lives would have been lost," said sailor Hoat.
The ship Thanh Liem was not damaged in the incident and detained for investigation.
