Dallas police were in a standoff with a suspect on Friday after snipers killed five officers and wounded six, one of the worst mass police shootings in U.S. history, during protests against the killing of two black men by police this week.

 There is no evidence so far that a gunman who attacked Canada's capital had links to Middle Eastern Islamist extremists, the government says.

 Canada will not be intimidated by terrorism and will enhance its fight against terrorist organizations, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said on Wednesday.
