The S-Express has been organised for the first time in Vietnam, offering an opportunity for film lovers to learn about the film industry as well as the culture of ASEAN countries.

The S-Express Vietnam 2022 is hosted in the cultural space Cà phê Thứ Bảy (Saturday Coffee), at the initiative of movie curator Marcus Manh Cuong Vu. Vu is also the curator of Vietnamese movies participating in the S-Express programme.

Initiated in 2002, the S-Express is an annual collaboration of short film programmes from Southeast Asian countries. This programme is an insight into the development of filmmaking in the region. It aims to bring the selected films from each region to travel to their neighbouring countries. Vietnam joined the programme in 2016.

The S-Express Vietnam 2022 will take place both online and offline at 0109 Park 1, Times City, in Hai Ba Trung District in Hanoi.

In HCM City, the programme will be held at 79A Phan Ke Binh Street, Da Kao Ward, District 1.

The agenda will feature films from Laos on August 11, Indonesia on August 18, and the Philippines on August 25.

In September, movies from Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Myanmar and Cambodia will be screened.

Vietnamese international-awarding-winning filmmakers Nguyen Hoang Diep and curator Vũ will be the host of S-Express Vietnam 2022 in Hanoi. Movie director Lan Nguyen will take the role in HCM City.

The free-of-charge screening every Thursday will start at 7pm, followed by a Q&A section between the audience and the filmmakers and curator.
