In the women’s open, Tornados Reds of Singapore beat Tornados White of Singapore 1-0 to take the title.

In the mixed category final, Saigon International beat Dragon HC Việt Nam 1-0. SID’s Connection defeated Zhoyou HC of Chinese Taipei 2-0 in the men’s veterans.

D Allan Netto of SID’s Connection won the award of Best Flicker.

“The festival was another successful hockey tournament held in Việt Nam. Việt Nam Plus team, which comprised of Việt Nam National Team players, narrowly lost to SID’s Connection, which comprised of Malaysian National Team players,” said James Chew, chairman of the organising board. “The Vietnamese players showed their fighting spirit, but the Malaysian players demonstrated more experience and better skills. Vietnamese hockey has much to do to catch up with Malaysia.”

The two-day event attracted 21 teams from Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Chinese Taipei and Việt Nam.

This was an outdoor six-a-side event played on artificial turf pitches, using modified indoor hockey rules.

The tournament was endorsed by the Asian Hockey Federation, the HCM City Sports Centre and the Việt Nam National Olympic Council.
