The Singapore Film Festival will for the first time be brought to HCMC by Singapore Film Society and RICE & Partners early next month, introducing four movies by well known Singaporean directors at CGV Vincom Dong Khoi in District 1.

“7 Letters” will kick-start the festival on November 1, starting at 6:30 p.m. Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet two of the directors, Boo Junfeng and Tan Pin Pin, who co-directed the movie with five others. “7 Letters” (2016) comprises of seven stories, each of which acts as a love letter from the directors to Singapore, displaying the unique and varied connections they have with their homeland.

“Apprentice” (2016) will be screened on the second day of the festival. It is a dark, compassionate drama by director Boo Junfeng, in which he offers viewers a glimpse into the life of a prison officer, as he becomes increasingly embroiled in the complexities of the punishment system.

“3688”, a 2015 musical/comedy film directed by Royston Tan, will be screened on November 3, telling the stories about a parking-lot attendant who dreams of a musical career.

There will also be a panel discussion with directors Boo Junfeng, Tan Pin Pin and Ham Tran at 2 p.m. on November 3 at The Factory Contemporary Arts Centre in District 2.

The Singapore Film Festival HCMC 2018 will wrap up on November 4 with the screening of “Ramen Teh” (2018) directed by Eric Khoo. The film centers on a young ramen chef who leaves his hometown in Japan to embark on a culinary journey to Singapore to find out the truth about his past.
