VietNamNet Bridge - After announcing the first live show in her career, HCM City’s pop singer Dong Nhi has received more good news as she will be the representative of Vietnam at the MTV Awards.

She has already defeated two other Vietnamese rivals, including singer Son Tung M-TP and singer-songwriter Vu Cat Tuong, to represent Vietnam at the awards.
Based on the votes, MTV Vietnam decided to choose the 28-year-old singer, who will have to undergo another round of competition in Southeast Asia with six competitors: Gentle Bones (Singapore), Raisa (Indonesia), Sarah Geronimo (Philippines), Thaitanium (Thailand), Yuna and Bunkface (Malaysia).
The competition will take place from September 27 through November 6 through the poll on the website of MTV.
If Dong Nhi wins the regional vote, she will compete at EMA Rotterdam 2016 in Holland on November 6.
Dong Nhi was previously awarded the Best Asian Artist 2015 at the Annual Mnet Asian Music Awards 2015 (MAMA 2015) organised in Hong Kong last year. She has gained famed in Vietnam with her songs including Pink Girl, I Wanna Be Your Love, and Love Like You.
However, she is best known for her successful music video Trach Ai Bay gio (Who to Reproach). She has also spent time training the country’s younger pop singers.
In the history of Vietnam’s participation in the EMA, Son Tung M-TP (2015) and My Tam (2013) won the Best Southeast Asia Act (Southeast Asian Artists excellent). However, they failed in the the competition in the Asian region.
Last year, Son Tung M-TP was defeated by China's Zhang Liangying. In 2014, Vietnam’s representative was singer Ho Ngoc Ha.
The MTV Europe Music Awards was held for the first time in 1994 by MTV Networks Europe to select the best music videos of Europe.
After 20 times of being held in Europe, the award has now been brought to Asia.
MTV Europe Music Awards Rottedam 2016 will take place in the Netherlands on November 6.
