VietNamNet Bridge – Diva My Linh and singer Duc Tuan will swoon visitors in a special evening concert at a rooftop bar and restaurant in dowtown Ha Noi this Sunday evening.
Titled Nhung Ngay Mong Mo (The Dreamy Nights), the concert will include the Brothers band, musician Huy Tuan and the Ha Noi Academy of Music string quartet.
The concert will combine classical melodies with modern rhythms and harmonies, with songs structured simpler than classical music, which is said to be easier for audiences to connect with the music.
My Linh has long pursued this kind of music and has continually surprised listeners with her acoustic albums Toc Ngan (Short Hair), Made in Viet Nam, Chat Voi Mozart (Chat with Mozart), De Tinh Yeu Hat (Let the Love Sing) and the recently released Toc Ngan Acoustic – Mot Ngay (Short Hair Acoustic – One Day).
Audiences have been consistently impressed with her amazing voice and devotion to the Vietnamese music industry during the past 20 years. Young singer Duc Tuan was drawn to this semi-classical style of music when his career began 11 years ago and his first album, Yeu Trong Anh Sang (Love in the Lights) – comprised of eight songs composed by musician Quoc Bao – expressed the singers vocal style. He shot to fame with his album Music of the Nights (The Broadway Album), which contained 11 songs from nine famous operas.
My Linh received success with her funk and soul music and Duc Tuan for his romantic music at the beginning of their respective careers, but both have a passion for the semi-classic style.
The concert joins a series of performances as part of the Music on the Rooftop programme in which monthly concerts are held on the 19th floor of the Pacific building at 83B Ly Thuong Kiet Street.
The series has catered for a diverse array of musical styles, from pre-war melodies performed by singer Tuan Ngoc in January to youth-oriented songs by Thanh Lam and Ha Anh Tuan and most recently a world music concert by veteran artist Nguyen Le.
