The Asian Cup will take place from January 12 to February 10 in Doha, Qatar. The Vietnamese national team coached by Philippe Troussier will play in Group D alongside Iraq, Japan, and Indonesia.
The two top teams from each group and the four third-placed teams with the best result will advance to the quarter-final stage.
Moving forward to the second qualification round for the World Cup, Vietnam will play Iraq, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The two strongest teams will ultimately secure their places in the next round of qualifiers.
The Vietnamese team will continue to compete at the ASEAN Cup, previously known as AFF Cup, aiming to take back the trophy they won in 2008 and 2018.
Furthermore, the U23 squad will take part in the Asian Cup from April 15 to May 3 in Qatar.
The national men's futsal team will also compete at several tournaments, including the 2024 AFC Futsal Cup that is expected to give the team a chance to qualify for the 2024 World Cup.
Coach Diego Giustozzi and his players are expected to be World Cup participants for a third time in a row, with their mission to be among the top four teams to join hosts Uzbekistan in the highest-level tournament.
On the women's side, the national team have several events scheduled in 2024, such as the ASEAN Cup, the Southeast Asian Championship, and the Paris Olympics.
