These proposed parks would be located in various localities, including Thu Duc City, and four districts — Cu Chi, Binh Tan, Binh Thanh and 12.
Among the six, Saigon Safari in Cu Chi District is the largest, covering 485 hectares in An Nhon Tay and Phu My Hung communes, 50 kilometers from the city center. The safari is envisioned as a sanctuary for semi-wildlife animals, featuring an open zoo that showcases both typical and nocturnal creatures.
The second-largest park, an ecological natural park in Thu Duc City, will cover 128 hectares within the Thu Thiem new urban area. This park’s primary goals are to preserve the environment, manage rainwater drainage, and serve as a recreational and leisure destination while safeguarding the natural eco-system.
Thu Thiem Square and Riverside Park, also located in Thu Thiem, will occupy 20 hectares of public land. A section along the Saigon River, stretching from Ba Son Bridge to Saigon River Tunnel, has already been opened to the public and offers attractions such as sunflower fields, spaces for communal activities, and a riverfront promenade.
In Binh Tan District, the proposed Go Cat Park will cover 13 hectares of land that was formerly a landfill a decade ago. District 12 will host a 150-hectare green park in Thanh Xuan and Thoi An wards. This multi-functional park will cater to various needs, serving as an entertainment and relaxation hub while also regulating water and storing clean water for the region.
The final park in the proposal is a 3.8-hectare green space located in Ward 12 of Binh Thanh District.
HCMC now has around 400 operational parks in public and internal areas, featuring more than 235,000 trees.
As part of its goals for 2020-2025, the city aims to expand its public parkland by 150 hectares. Achieving this target necessitates the execution of at least 54 projects, requiring a total investment of VND9,000 billion. However, only eight projects have thus far advanced to the stage of investment policy submissions.
