VietNamNet Bridge – In the parching heat, three students of Quang Chinh Primary School in Quang Ninh province bathed in the river on the morning of May 7. Two of them who could not swim were immediately swept away.
These third-grade students study on the afternoon so in the morning of May 7, they went to the Ha Coi River, which is very near from their homes, to bath together.
Two kids bathed first but they could not swim, so the children were swept away from the bank. Seeing his two friends raised their hands to call for help, the remaining kid was frightened. He ran back home to entreat help from adults.
However, when people reached the riverbank, the two children were swept away. After many hours of searching, the bodies were found.
The same day, ten seventh-grade students of Le Loi Secondary School in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai went to Tok Lah Lake to bath at 3pm. Four schoolgirls, 13, lost their footing and felt into a deep area and were sunk.
Three other schoolboys were in the same situation, near from the site where the four schoolgirls drowned. However, a student named Ro Cham Ken who is very good at swimming rescued them.
After rescuing three boys, Ro Cham Ken returned to save the four schoolgirls but it was too late.
The bodies of four girls were fished out at 4pm.
Drowning is the top reason that causes death among children in Vietnam.
