VietNamNet Bridge – Among the ten chief security officers (CSOs) selected as the most outstanding at their position in South East Asia are six Vietnamese CSOs.

The list of top ten CSOs was announced at the ASEAN CSO Award 2011 ceremony, held yesterday in Ho Chi Minh City, and attended by government officials, members of the IT and security community, and mass media.

The six Vietnamese CSOs who received the award are listed below:

- Nguyen Huu Chinh, head of the Information Technology (IT) Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment;

- Pham Trong Diem, director of information security at GNT Company;

- Nguyen Hung Thanh, director of Vietcombank’s IT Center;

- Ngo Quang Huy, head of the System Technical Department of the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team;

- Ly Minh Tuan, director of the IT and Communications Center of the HCMC Department of Information and Communications; and

- Phan Quang Tuyen, deputy head of the IT and Customs Statistics Department under the Customs General Department.

First organized in 2009, the CSO Awards seeks out and honors outstanding individuals who are responsible for information security in order to ensure business continuity, minimize business risks, and maximize business opportunities in the private enterprises, governmental groups, and civic organizations.

To participate in the CSO Awards, nominees/applicants must submit information related to a particular information security initiative. They could also provide more information related to their projects, such as illustrative pictures or videos.

The Board of Judges evaluates nominees/applicants through information provided in the nomination/application letter, ensuring that the submitted names achieve distinguishing performances in information security, therefore, effectively contributing to their enterprise/organization and the community.

The judges also directly interview the nominees and applicants and verify the nominee information at their work place in order to select and honor outstanding CSOs.
