On October 18, a representative of the Hoa Hiep Traffic Police Station under the Da Nang City Police Department told VietNamNet that administrative violation reports had been issued against six women for sitting on the roadway to take photographs and obstructing traffic.

Earlier, images circulated on social media showing a group of women sitting and posing for photographs in the middle of a sharp hairpin bend at Km905+400 on Hai Van Pass, in Hai Van Ward, Da Nang City.

The incident raised widespread concerns about the risk of traffic accidents.

After receiving the information, Hai Van Ward Police coordinated with Hoa Hiep Traffic Police Station to investigate the incident and summoned the six women for questioning.

According to investigators, at approximately 8:30 a.m. on October 17, the group hired a car from Phu Loc Commune in Hue City to visit Hai Van Pass and take photographs.

Upon reaching the location, the women asked the driver to stop the vehicle.

They then walked into the middle of the road, sat down to pose and asked another tourist to photograph them, despite vehicles continuing to travel through the area.

Authorities described the behavior as extremely dangerous and demonstrating a lack of awareness of road traffic safety regulations.

Hai Van Pass features steep terrain, numerous sharp bends and limited visibility.

Sitting in the middle of the road to take photographs could catch approaching drivers by surprise, leaving them insufficient time to react and potentially causing serious traffic accidents.

Police issued administrative violation reports against all six women for illegally gathering and sitting on a public road, obstructing traffic.

The group received fines totaling VND1.5 million (approximately US$57).
