The International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering for Sustainable Development 2013 (Geotechn 2013) welcomed around 500 delegates from 27 countries around the world. This is the second time for Hanoi to host the Geotechn conference.

The first Geotechn was held in Hanoi in October 2011 with almost 450 delegates from 24 countries around the world with in-depth lectures in the field of geotechnical engineering.

This year conference attendees have a chance to access in-depth lectures by six leading geotechnical professors in the world, including Sven Hansbo from Sweden, Alain Guilloux from France, Rolf Katzenbach from Germany, Tatsuoka Fumio from Japan, Helmut Schweiger from Austria and Kenichi Soga from the UK.

Earlier, the conference also received 112 in-depth reports of Vietnamese and international geotechnical researchers on five topics: foundations for high-rise buildings, underground works in soft soil, improvement and reinforcement of soft ground for infrastructure works, monitoring work and equipment for excavation works and groundwater; models of geotechnical problems and numerical methods.

The organizers selected 84 outstanding reports for the conference. Today, November 29, the conference continued with the quality lectures by leading professors in the field of geotechnical engineering.
