Doctors said they the biopsy failed so they will perform the test again. A sample will be also sent to the US. The testing results will be available in one week.

During this time, Nguyen Thi Phuong will be treated at the hospital. She was hospitalized on October 14. Phuong said her health is good now.

The Sun and The Daily Mail, the two biggest-selling newspapers in the UK, have articles about Phuong.  

The Sun, the UK’s biggest-selling daily newspaper, has said Phuong’s disease could be Lipodystrophy--a rare syndrome which causes a layer of fatty tissue beneath the surface of the skin disintegrates while the skin itself continues to grow at a startling pace.

The paper added the syndrome, which has no cure, leaves victims with loose folds of skin on their bodies as well as wrinkled faces and features of people much hold. Only 2,000 people among nearly seven billion people in the world are thought to have the condition.

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail has quoted some doctors saying the condition might be Cushing’s syndrome, which can be triggered if a person has very high levels of a hormone called cortisol in their blood.

However, Phuong, told Tuoi Tre Daily that the strange cause of her condition is not a seafood allergy like most newspapers have reported. She said that in the beginning red rashes suddenly appeared on her face for no reason. The face became itchy and later turned wrinkled.

Except for her aged face and hands, her voice is as sweet as an 18-year-old girl. She eats, drinks and walks like a young woman. She was told by doctors to limit human contact during her treatment period. She also expressed her desire not to be disturbed by curious people.

Doctors said that Phuong has mastocytosis, a disorder caused by the presence of too many mast cells which bring a number of symptoms like skin lesions, diarrhea, abdominal discomforts and other infections. Her face could possibly recover with 50-70 percent.

Phuong’s beauty has been destroyed by this disease for four years but her husband has not stopped loving her. He said he wishes to get married her after her disease is cured. They have lived together for many years but they have not organized a wedding ceremony.
