The visit to Vietnam by Slovakia Defence Minister Martin Glavac will help consolidate and elevate the traditional friendship ties between the two armies and two countries.
Defence Minister Phung Quang Thanh made the statement at a welcome ceremony to the Slovakia high-ranking defence delegation led by its minister Martin Glavac in Hanoi on June 9.
Talks were held after the welcome ceremony when the two ministers discussed regional and world issues of mutual concerns and devised measures to boost bilateral defence cooperation in the future, including exchanging visits, training officers and sharing experience in joining UN peace-keeping forces.
The two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding on defence cooperation which creates a legal framework for lifting defence cooperation into a new height for peace, stability and security in the region and the world.
Besides official activities, Minister Martin Glavac will preside over an exchange meeting between Slovakia defence businesses and the Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association, pay a floral tribute to the late President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum, pay a courtesy call to President Truong Tan Sang and visit some army units.
