A high-level delegation from the Supreme People's Court led by Chief Justice Truong Hoa Binh paid a working visit to Slovakia from July 5-8 to share justice experience with their Slovakian counterparts.
The visit is a step toward furthering the cooperation between the two people’s supreme courts under a bilateral cooperation agreement signed in Hanoi last year.
Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Slovakia Jarmila Urbancova highlighted the significance of the visit for judicial cooperation between the two court sectors as well as bilateral relationship, saying that the visit demonstrates Vietnam’s resolve to boost judicial reform, supervision and law enforcement.
Regarding the Supreme Court of Slovakia’s activities, Jarmila Urbancova said her nation’s court system has three levels - the Supreme Court, 8 provincial-level courts and 54 district-level court. In 2014, with a staff of only 75 judges in a total of 206 court officials, the Supreme Court had to handle up to 18,000 cases.
During the visit, the Vietnam delegation also worked with Slovakian Justice Minister Tomas Borec and Deputy Chairman of the Justice Council of Slovakia Jan Vanko on judicial reform in Slovakia, the operational the Ministry of Justice and Judicial Council of Slovakia, the role of these agencies in judicial reform
Additionally, it also shared experience with leadership of the Layers Association of Slovakia, Prosecutor's Office, the Judicial Academy and visited the European Law University.
