Customs officers discovered drug hidden at the bottom of a suitcase.
On March 31, a Korean passenger named Park Kun Wook was detected to carry with him 36 faked credit cards and a Korean-made card printer.
On April 4, customs officers of the Saigon Port 1 seized 66 elephant tusks, weighing 282 kg and 2kg of pangolin scales, worth around $350,000, imported by Huy Son Company in Phu Nhuan district.
On May 22, the customs agency detected that two passengers from Thailand brought over 1,400 diamond and gemstone items totaling over 346 carats into Vietnam.
The HCM City Customs Agency said that in the first half of 2012, customs officers discovered more than 3,300 smuggling cases at the city’s airport and seaports, totaling nearly VND400 billion ($20 million).
They also detected nine cases of narcotic trafficking, seizing up to 35kg of drugs.
