VietNamNet Bridge – When night falls in town, people return home from work but street artists begin work by singing, dancing and doing magic tricks to entertain diners at restaurants and at the same time sell snacks, candies, chewing gums and the like.

They often come to crowded eateries, particularly small ones along the sidewalks, to stage performances.

A man from Dong Thap Province identified as Phuc and his son left home for Saigon almost six years ago. Night after night, they move their mobile speaker from one roadside eatery to another to sing and sell candies.

They usually perform on Truong Sa and Hoang Sa streets in Phu Nhuan District, which are lined by a lot of night bars, until midnight.

At an eatery by Binh Loi Bridge, Nguyen Thanh Tinh from Quang Ngai Province skillfully performs Michael Jackson’s moonwalk popping moves. “I have been dancing for eight years. I used to work for night clubs but the job there was not good,” Tinh said.

“I dance every night,” he says. In his black outfit, Tinh performs excellently, which reminds one of the great dance moves of the king of pop.

Meanwhile, Le Thanh Tung, a street magician, said, “I do magic tricks every night to make spectators laugh.”

Performances by unknown street artists like Phuc, Tinh and Tung help them earn a living and entertain viewers as well.
