By noon June 10, Vietnam had 6,025 Covid-19 patients being treated at 107 medical facilities. The Field Hospital No. 2 in Bac Giang Province – the country’s largest hotspot – has 741 patients, the highest number in the country, followed by the Viet Han Technology Vocational College in Bac Giang Province with 565 patients, Ngo Gia Tu College in Bac Giang Province with 509 cases, and the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi with 200 cases.

Among those patients, 176 people are in serious condition, and there are 40 critical cases. The Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases has 21 critical cases, most of whom have underlying medical conditions and tested positive for Covid-19 while being treated in the hospital. There are seven critical cases at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City, two cases in Bac Giang and one case at the General Hospital in Bac Ninh Province.

Among critical cases, a patient at Bac Giang Psychiatric Hospital is only 31 years old, with no underlying disease. Immediately after entering the hospital, he had to use a ventilator and continuous dialysis. This hospital is currently the largest ICU in the North with 101 beds, specializing in treating severe Covid-19 cases with the help of doctors from many provinces.

Of the nine patients who need special treatment (ECMO), the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases is treating four cases, one case at Bac Giang Lung Hospital, one case at Da Nang Lung Hospital, a Korean captain, 67, with a history of hypertension and obesity; two cases at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in HCM City; and one case at Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City.

As the number of Covid-19 patients in Ho Chi Minh City is on the rise, with 542 cases as of noon on June 10, two teams of medical workers at Cho Ray Hospital working at the epidemic center of Bac Giang will return to Ho Chi Minh City.
