There’s nothing new under the sun, but sunbathing on a highway in a tropical city was a new experience for a group of tourists in Hanoi.

While most Vietnamese stay indoors when summer begins and huddle around air-conditioners to beat the heat, these visitors appeared to be chilling, enjoying the caress of the sun on their skin.

It saves money when you visit an inland city and can experience a beach town. But well-meaning locals warned of exposure to UV rays and the danger of getting skin cancer.

Hanoi is a charming city with a lot of specialities and its summer sunshine should be counted as one. Just dress appropriately, please.
