HCM City uses fanpages to update socio-economic information

Many districts of HCMC have created their fanpages on Facebook, which provide the citizenry with sufficient and prompt socio-economic information.

Speaking at a meeting on July 31, Ngo Van Liem, head of the Propaganda and Training Commission of District 8, said the district is running a fanpage named “Kenh doi” to promptly update news and information of the district and the city.

Thanks to its easy access and efficiency in delivering information, the fanpage now has thousands of followers. Many wards of District 8 have also created their own fanpages.

However, to ensure the accuracy of information, those fanpages have to get the news from official channels, which take a long time. Editing the news also takes time, resulting in late update sometimes.

 

Le Van Minh, vice head of the Propaganda and Training Commission of HCMC, said the districts’ authorities should provide timely and sufficient information to media outlets. Besides, the news should be announced by a single agency to ensure consistency.

At the meeting, the Department of Information and Communications of HCMC launched a fanpage named “Thong tin co so TPHCM” to update the city’s policies and events. SGT
