His case was one of the first two nCoV cases detected in Vietnam. Despite being released, the male patient has requested permission to remain at the hospital in order to take care of his father who has been receiving treatment for the disease at the hospital’s Department of Tropical Diseases.

Both 66-year-old Li Ding his son Li Zichao were admitted to Cho Ray Hospital on the evening of January 22 following early indications of nCoV symptoms.

According to doctor Le Quoc Hung, Head of the Department of Tropical Diseases, two days after being admitted to the hospital, the son showed no signs of fever and remained in a stable health condition.

He received close monitoring at the hospital and throughout the treatment process, four tests of Li Zichao's samples had also been found negative for the nCoV.

Professor Luong Ngoc Khue, Director of the Medical Services Department under the Ministry of Health, presented flowers and sent congratulations to the patient and the team of health workers at Cho Ray Hospital for their great efforts in treating the first nCoV patient.

Dr. Khue also stated his belief that with great enthusiasm provided by the hospital's medical staff, the father’s health condition is improving, despite having suffered from several diseases before.

Earlier, Li Ding had traveled from Wuhan to Hanoi with his wife on January 13 before heading to Nha Trang. His son Li Zichao, who had been in Long An for the past four months, then went to Nha Trang in order to meet his father.

Following this, the whole family then continued their journey by travelling to Ho Chi Minh city and Long An. By January 17, the father was showing signs of a fever, with his son also displaying similar symptoms on January 20 before the pair were admitted to Cho Ray Hospital on the evening of January 22.

Hotel receptionist infected with nCoV in Khanh Hoa discharged from hospital

A 25-year-old female patient who had been infected with the novel coronavirus (nCoV) in the south central province of Khanh Hoa received a discharge from the Khanh Hoa Hospital of Tropical Diseases on the afternoon of February 4.

The female patient is from Van Ninh district and is currently employed as a hotel receptionist in Loc Tho ward of Nha Trang city. It is here she came into close contact with two Chinese nationals who passed on the nCoV to her.

Following this encounter, the female receptionist started displaying symptoms such as a fever and a cough on January 27, before heading to the Hospital of Tropical Diseases for treatment where her results came back positive for the nCoV virus after being tested.

Following a period of undergoing intensive treatment at the hospital, the female patient's health conditions has returned to normal.

As a result of her recovery, the patient is now eligible to be discharged from hospital due to suffering from no fever over the past three days and having further test come back negative for the nCoV.

Doctor Nguyen Dong, Director of Khanh Hoa Hospital of Tropical Diseases, along with representatives of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, presented flowers to the patient and congratulated the hospital on successfully treating nCoV first case in Vietnam.

Female nCOV patient in Thanh Hoa discharged from hospital

A female Vietnamese patient who was infected by the novel coronavirus has been discharged from Thanh Hoa General Hospital on February 3 after undergoing 10 days of isolation in addition to follow-up treatment.

According to reports by doctors, two test results belonging to the patient from Yen Dinh district of Thanh Hoa province came back negative for nCoV following 10 days of isolation, strict supervision, and treatment at Thanh Hoa General Hospital.

Le Van Sy, Director of Thanh Hoa General Hospital, stated that the hospital had isolated and treated the patient in an effective manner in line with the Ministry of Health’s medical instructions, noting that the woman displayed no signs of fever for five days whilst her biochemical test parameters were within the normal limits.

The 25-year-old female patient was identified due to being one of seven other Vietnamese people who had been sent to Wuhan city in Hubei province for training by Nihon Plast Co., Ltd. of Japan, whilst the group returned to the nation together on the same flight.

In addition to the female patient, the hospital is also in the process of monitoring and isolating four other suspected patients who have shown epidemiological factors relating to the spread of the epidemic.

Three earlier days, the hospital organised training for all medical staff with regard to providing guidance on diagnosis, treatment, and measures to combat the spread of nCoV.

The hospital has also proposed the introduction of new provisions relating to additional medical equipment, supplies, and protective equipment as a way of meeting the emergency needs. VNA/VOV/VNN
