The strong whirlwind occurred yesterday evening in Chau Thon Commune of Que Phong District. Hail was also reported.
According to local authorities, the whirlwind lasted 15 minutes, damaging several hectares of orchards and crops.
Trees were also knocked down, causing problems for traffic.
Vi Van Chin, chairman of Chau Thon Commune, said the local authority had sent workers to each village to estimate losses and help anyone affected.
“At present, we have reached five villages, where we found 50 houses damaged,” Chin said.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
This month, Nghe An Province has been hit by three whirlwinds.
This was the worst whirlwind in the last two years happening in the province.
