In Vietnam's fast changing labor market, programmers and technology engineers are the most sought-after workforce segment, according to the 2024-2025 Recruitment Market Report by Top CV.

Unlike non-IT groups, the IT-software workforce exhibits greater job stability, demonstrating caution and a focus on maintaining sustainability.

Despite recent economic fluctuations which have affected many industries, the IT-software workforce can maintain high stability, with 35.6 percent of polled workers saying that they don’t intend to change jobs.

Many companies have adopted the multitasking model as a way to restructure their workforce. However, this has raised dissatisfaction from tge IT workforce, with a discontent rate reaching 94.12 percent.

The report pointed out that inadequate treatment is the leading reason why IT-software professionals quit their jobs (34.1 percent).

The high competitiveness in the industry, especially the existence of startups, particularly financially-backed ones, also increases pressure on technology firms to retain IT personnel.

The IT sector remains a "promised land" with great potential, especially in terms of income. IT-software interns can earn VND3-5 million, while those with less than 1 year of experience earn VND7-11 million.

IT-software personnel with 1-3 years’ experience can earn between VND10-20 million, while specialists (with more than 3 years of experience) have salaries of VND16-24.5 million.

As for higher positions and team leaders, the pay could be VND19-35 million, while managers or heads of divisions VND27-52 million.

One of the factors attracting young people to the IT-software sector is attractive income. In software and app development, web developers with less than 1 year of experience earn VND10.8-17.5 million, while those with more than 5 years of experience earn VND30-47 million.

As for game developers, their salaries are VND 9.5-14.4 million (less than 1 year of experience), and VND30-47 million with more than five years of experience.

Slightly lower salaries are offered to system, network administration and security officers. Network engineers start with salaries of VND5.7-10.5 million. Those with 3-5 years of experience can receive VND14-19 million.

Security experts have starting monthly salaries of VND7-12 million. If they can work well and stay in the industry for more than five years, they can receive VND25.7-37.7 million.

In the data sector, positions such as data officers, AI engineers, and AI labelers have the salaries starting at VND9-15 million. The engineers with 5 years of experience or more will receive VND30-50 million.

Besides salary, IT professionals can also enjoy other preferences, such as wfh (work from home). Freelance work also enables domestic IT professionals to work for foreign companies.
