VietNamNet Bridge - On February 7th - three days before the Prime Minister’s meeting, the Party Committee of Hai Phong City suspended the Chairman and the Vice Chairman of Tien Lang district, to make clear their responsibilities in the land revocation case in Tien Lang.

At the press conference on the afternoon of February 2,  Nguyen Van Thanh – Party Secretary cum Chairman of Hai Phong City – said that at the morning meeting with other departments, the Hai Phong Party Committee concluded that Tien Lang district had not yet fully carried out the land compensation and repossession under the Land Law.

According to the meeting, Tien Lang district has made five mistakes in Doan Van Vuon’s case: not yet had the land usage plan after repossession; not set up the committee on compensation before repossession; not yet had any talk with the resident owning repossessed land; caused the damage for Vuon’s asset after repossession; and conducted the work narrowly before Tet (Lunar New Year) which led to the bad reaction of the public.

The Hai Phong Party Committee decided to solve the above-mentioned problems. The Committee has to bear their responsibilities in monitoring the case which led to 4 police and 2 army soldiers injured.  
   
For Tien Lang district, the responsibilities of the local Party Committee and the Party Secretary have to be verified. They did not provide proper leadership and management which resulted in land compensation and acquisition without compliance with the Land Law.

Le Van Hien, Deputy Party Secretary cum Chairman of Tien Lang district, and Nguyen Van Khanh, Vice Chairman of Tien Lang district and officials who directly involved in the land acquisition case were suspended for reviewing their personal responsibilities in the case. Some other officials of Tien Lang district and Vinh Quang commune are also reviewed.

“The Hai Phong Party Committee has reviewed ourselves seriously and admitted our responsibilities with the Politburo, the Central Party Committee, and the people of Hai Phong city for this case”, said Thanh.
