The department’s decision aims to investigate the tragedy and review the procedures and safety of adventure tours at the waterfalls.

The South Korean tourist, Jang Won Seok, 23, died during an adventure game on the waterfalls. He was in a group of 11 foreign tourists, including three South Koreans, two Canadians, four Belgians and two Britons.

The tour provider Thử thách Việt (Việt Challenge) Company said all tourists had been trained in safety techniques before the game. The first six tourists had crossed the obstacle safely before Jang’s incident. He reportedly used an incorrect technique when jumping into the water, leading to his death. Jang’s body was taken to HCM City on Saturday night.

Previously, an accident in February 2016 during a tour at the same waterfalls ended with the deaths of three British tourists. After the accident, only 10 tour companies were licensed to operate adventure tours in the province.
