VietNamNet Bridge – The Marine Police boat JujakHam, from South Korea, joined Viet Nam Maritime Police Zone 3 to conduct exchanges and fire prevention, combat training and rescue within the waters of Ba Ria-Vung Tau yesterday morning, June 25.

South Korean marine police ship Jujak Ham joined a naval drill for fire-fighting with Viet Nam Maritime Police-Zone 3 in the waters off Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province on Monday, June 24.

The 2,953 tonne South Korean boat dropped anchor at PTSC port in Ba Ria-Vung Tau on Monday afternoon.

The 113m long and 14.2m wide boat carries 68 sailors, including a helicopter crew. It is one of the biggest ships in the South Korean Coast Guard fleet.

Observing activities was Ko Myung Suk, head of the Equipment and Technology Division under the Republic of Korea's High Command of Marine Police.

The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau is the boat's first port of call in Viet Nam.

Speaking at a welcoming ceremony for the boat and crew, Colonel Ngo Ngoc Thu, deputy head and chief of staff of the Viet Nam Maritime Police Department, said the visit would help enhance mutual understanding and promote the relationship between the two marine police forces and the two countries.

It was a good chance for the two sides to share experiences and promote co-operation, said Thu.

Viet Nam and South Korean marine police forces first signed a memorandum of understanding in the areas of maritime police operations in June 2007.

The Korean marine police ship was scheduled to leave for HCM City tomorrow afternoon.
