VietNamNet Bridge - A fisherman in Chau Thanh district of Ben Tre province has caught a very big soft-shell turtle (Trionyx cartilagineus) weighing 23.5 kg, which is 81 cm long and 50 cm wide.

The lucky man was Do Quoc Trung, of the village of Tien Tay Thuong, Tien Thuy commune. He caught the turtle from the Tien Thuy River, which is about 100 meters from his home on December 14.

Over the past few few days, local people have flocked to Trung’s home to see the turtle.

Trung said two rich men in Tien Thuy had offered him VND20 million and VND30 million ($1,000-$1,500) to buy the turtle as a pet but his family did not agree.
