The department was also asked to begin construction on resettlement areas and infrastructure to provide accommodation for people in danger zones.

The people’s committee urged the Thu Duc District’s People Committee to move 27 households along the Sai Gon River near the Binh Loi Bridge in Hiep Binh Chanh Ward.

City authorities also asked district People’s Committees to speed up land clearance in landslide areas, such as Giong Ong To Bridge in District 2, Cui Hamlet in Binh Chanh District, and Long Kieng Bridge and Phuoc Kien residential areas in Nha Be District, so they can carry out embankment projects.

These projects are expected to be completed next year.

HCM City now has 40 landslide-prone locations, including 23 dangerous areas near rivers and canals in eight districts, according to the city’s Department of Transport.

Nha Be District has had the highest number of landslides, with 16, including 11 dangerous landslides, followed by Thu Duc and Can Gio districts with five each.
