The girl with inflamed hair
On January 8-9, 2007, the hair of a 15-year-old girl named H in the northern province of Nam Dinh spontaneously combusted three times.
Her teacher and classmates discovered her hair going up in flames and a circle of smoke above her head.
Her hair was singed and produced a burnt smell, but strangely, she did not feel any heat. Doctors found her to be completely normal otherwise.
She was advised to go home immediately from school and the phenomenon happened again, once each at home and at the Central Pediatrics Hospital in Hanoi.
After that, scientists learned of this case. Researcher Nguyen Phuc Giac Hai from the Vietnamese Research Center for Potential Human Abilities said that this case was not mysterious, but it was a special biological phenomenon.
Hai said some 50 cases of spontaneous combustion of the human body had been reported worldwide. There is a theory that it is caused by discharge of electricity by the body.
20 mysterious fires of a family in Quang Nam

In 2008, up to 20 fires happened because of unknown reasons at Mr. Le Van Hoang’s house in Thang Binh district of the central province of Quang Nam.
The first case was reported on July 4, at a stack of straw and firewood on the side of the house. After that, a bamboo hedges near the house also went up in flame.
In the morning of July 5, eight consecutive fires were reported behind the pigsty, at a bamboo chair, firewood outside and near the pigsty, and near the fence.
On July 6, there were two fires: one behind a stainless steel kitchen sink, burning a plastic water piper and a plastic can under the sink.
On July 8, a firewood stack on the side of the house and a fertilizer basket went into flames.
On July 12, six fires happened at the same time.
The local department of science and technology sent experts to this house to investigate. However, both experts and police officers said that these fires were caused by man.
Girl whose hair spontaneously combusted
On July 30, 2008, Cho Ray Hospital in HCM City received a female patient named T, 27, from District 7, with odd phenomenon. Her hair went into flame, burning the girl’s hair and head skin.
Around one hour before the girl was brought to the hospital, T was awakened because her head was in serious pain and hot. She was very scared to see her hair was photogenic. She was more scared when she found out that her hair was singed. She shouted and her relatives took her to hospital.
According to doctors, the scalds on her head were not very serious. They could heal themselves in 5-6 days.
30 mysterious fires in Thai Binh

In February and March 2010, nearly 30 fires were reported in the 2,000sq.m plot of land of Mr. Bui Van Trac and Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen in Thai Binh province.
Three sons of Mr. Trac and Ms. Huyen lived in this land together, including Bui Van Nghiem, Bui Van Ngat and Bui Van Huu.
The first fire happened in the morning of February 21, at the straw stack of Mr. Nghiem. His maize pile in the garden continued to went on flame on the afternoon.
On February 23, a straw stack of Nghiem’s younger brother, Bui Van Huu, was in fire. After that, even clothes on the bodies of some members in this family also went on flame.
On March 18, Huu’s daughter, Bui Thi Diu, was scare when her shirt went on flame. It happened again for Diu when she was at her class.
The same day, a shirt of Huu, which was on a coat-hanger and a plastic chair where Huu was seating blazed up. Two blankets on Ms. Huyen’s bed went on flame.
On March 22, when the entire family grouped up to talk, a wardrobe synchronously combusted.
In mid-March 2010, Ngat’s trousers on a hanger burst into flame. Some items in his house caught on fire.
Experts investigated these mysterious fires. It turned out that the fires were caused by Ngo Thi Men, Mr. Huu’s wife, and his daughter Bui Thi Diu.
Men had managed to drive away her parents-in-law out of the plot of land where her house was located on. She created fires to threaten her parents-in-law to force them to leave.
