Vietnamese traditional martial art joins WoMAU

Viet Nam's traditional martial art federation has been warmly welcomed as the 40th member of the World of Martial Art Union (WoMAU) at a ceremony held in Chungju City Hall, South Korea.

It is the second Vietnamese member of the international organisation, following the Viet Nam Vovinam Federation.
WoMAU, recognised and sponsored by UNESCO, has carried out programmes to research, preserve and popularise traditional martial arts globally through activities at the annual festival in South Korea.

In this year's WoMAU festival, ten Vietnamese martial artists have showcased kungfu techniques at Chungju World Martial Arts Park.

Meanwhile, in a performance competition for participating delegations, the Vietnamese team scored 179.4 points to finish third and earn a place in today's finals.

Viet Nam ended Malaysia's 11-match unbeaten home record following a 2-0 victory in a friendly match on Tuesday at Shah Alam stadium.

Under little pressure, Viet Nam played well and controlled the game for most of the first half. Le Cong Vinh opened the scoring in the 33rd minute with a header before Phan Thanh Hung added a second goal in the 49th minute following some attractive attacking football by the visitors.

Viet Nam will be looking to continue their good form when they face off against Indonesia in another friendly match on Saturday.

Viet Nam come up short in key volleyball encounter

Viet Nam lost 12-25, 18-25, 23-25 to China in their second match of the women's Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Cup on Tuesday in Kazakhstan.

Encountering a tough opponent in China, the Vietnamese team failed to exert control or a proper offense over the match, as they had the previous day against Iran, due to a significant height disadvantage.

Following the two opening matches, Viet Nam currently rank third in Group B, behind China and Japan. Their next match will be against second-placed Japan.
