Tam cycles to sixth stage victory

Ha Thanh Tam of Vinh Binh Rice Factory won the sixth stage of the Return to the Country – An Giang Plant Protection Cup yesterday, May 15.

The 71km stage, from Can Tho City to Soc Trang City, saw fierce competition between cyclists. Tough participants led the group in shifts and headed to the finish together.

Tam crossed the line in a combined time of 1 hour 54 minutes 8 seconds at an average speed of 37.19 kmph. Tran Nguyen Minh Tri from Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap and Huynh Thanh Tung from Military Zone 7 came second and third, respectively.

Thanks to the result, Tung hung on to the yellow jersey with an overall time of 12:00.44, followed by Tam (12:01.43) and Tri (12:02.06).

They will compete in the 73km seventh stage from Soc Trang to Vi Thanh City today.

Coal, Minerals demolish Iron, Steel


Viet Nam Coal and Mineral Club defeated Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel 5-1 in the third match of the second round of the National Women's Football Championships at Ha Nam Stadium on Monday.

Due to constant pressure from Viet Nam Coal and Mineral, Chu Thi Hang of Thai Nguyen hit the ball into her team's net, opening scoring in the 27th minute.

In the 66th minute, Viet Nam Coal and Mineral earned one more goal thanks to Hoang Quynh. Although Hai Hoa made the score 1-2 for Thai Nguyen in the 71st minute, they suffered a severe loss. Vu Thi Ngan, Nguyen Thi Thao and Nguyen Thi Mai Ngoc scored three goals in the 74th, 77th and 89th minutes.

National Muay Clubs Cup to kick off


The third National Muay (Thai boxing) Clubs Cup will take place on May 22-28 in Binh Duong Province with the participation of 20 teams from 15 cities and provinces.

Last year, HCM City took the first place with nine gold, two silver and one bronze medal, followed by the Ministry of Public Security (two gold, three silver and four bronze) and Ba Ria-Vung Tau 1 (two gold, two silver and two bronze).
