HCM City to host National Go Championship
HCM City is scheduled to host the National Go Championship from September 19-26.
Athletes are set to compete in both men's and women's singles and team events.
The eight-day event is aimed at developing the mind sport game nationwide and to select the best players to compete at the upcoming Asian Teenager Go Chess Cup.
Viet Nam to warm up for SEA Games martial arts
Three Vietnamese martial artists will compete at the pre-Southeast Asian (SEA) Games Tarung Derajat Tournament held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on September 18-20.
The event will attract the participation of martial artists from six ASEAN nations.
Tarung Derajat is a new event to be held for the first time at the upcoming 26th SEA Games in Indonesia this November.
The martial art comprises stand-up and full-contact martial art from Indonesia, created by Haji Achmad Drajat based on experience as a street fighter in 1960s Bandung. The kung fu includes influences from karate and pencak silat while emphasizing punching, kicking, grappling and sweeping methods amongst others.
Viet Nam lose to Laos in AFC U-16 qualifier
Viet Nam lost 0-3 to Laos in the second match of Group F qualifiers for the 2012 AFC U-16 Championship.
Japan were defeated 2-4 by South Korea while Cambodia beat Chinese Taipei 2-1.
Viet Nam, who tied with South Korea 1-1, will meet Cambodia in the third match tomorrow and Chinese Taipei next Monday.
Forty teams have been divided into two zones, separated into seven groups of five and six teams each. Each group is set to play one round at a centralised venue with the top two teams from each group moving on to the tournament.
The top three teams from both West and East zones will compete as part of the 16-team line-up at the 2012 finals.
