National Wrestling Championships wrapped up
Fifty medals have been awarded to the winners of the National Wrestling Championships, which ended in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on October 16.

Hanoi came out on top in the men’s freestyle category with three gold, two silver and two bronze medals, followed by Bac Ninh earning two golds, one silver and one bronze, and the Army with one gold, one silver and five bronzes.
Hanoi also came first in the women’s freestyle events, securing three golds, one silver and three bronzes. Second place went to Ha Nam with one gold, one silver and three bronze medals, while Hue ended up in third with one gold, one silver and two bronzes.
In the Greco-Roman category, the Army team took the lead, clinching four golds, one silver and three bronzes. Hanoi ranked second with two golds, three silvers and one bronze and Bac Ninh came in third with single gold and bronze medals.
The six-day competition that attracted 200 wrestlers from 19 provinces across the country offered a good chance for the national team to select new young athletes to represent Vietnam in future regional and international events.
That seals gold for An Giang women's team
National cyclist Nguyen Thi That of An Giang stormed to a gold medal in the women's 500m event at the National Cycling Championship in Binh Duong Province yesterday, Oct 16.
In the men's 500m event, Do Tuan Anh of Dong Thap crossed the line first, closely followed by Tran Van Quyen of the military and Le Ngoc Thanh of HCM City.
In the men's 4km individual time trial, Mai Nguyen Hung of HCM City overcame Bui Minh Thuy of Vinh Long to claim victory, while Nguyen Truong Tai of Dong Thap took third place.
In the women's 3km individual time trial, gold medal went to Nguyen Thuy Dung from Binh Duong, whose teammate Nguyen Thi Ngoc Trang and Nguyen Thi Thanh of Dong Thap were second and third, respectively.
Binh Duong retained their lead in the team rankings with three gold, three silver and two bronze medals, leaving An Giang and HCM City trailing behind.
Today cyclists will compete in the men's and women's 500m double events as well as in the men's 4km team time trial and the women's 3km team time trial.
Two silvers for Vietnam at regional table tennis event
Vietnam won two silvers and six bronzes at the Southeast Asian Table Tennis Championships which ended in Vientiane, Laos, on October 15.
The silver medal went to Dinh Quang Linh in the men's singles. Another medal went to Linh and My Trang in the mixed doubles.
Singapore ended up topping the eight-nation event with five gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
In the 2010 tournament in the Philippines, Vietnam took the lead, bringing home five gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
In the previous events in 2004 and 2008, Vietnam regularly earned three gold medals.
Three local athletes to compete in Asian aerobic championships
Three Vietnamese athletes will compete at the third Asian Aerobic Championships to be held in Palembang, Indonesia today, the National Sports Administration has announced.
Nguyen Tien Phuong, Vu Ba Dong and Tran Thu Ha will compete in the men's singles, mixed doubles and trio events.
The competition, which will run until Sunday, has attracted athletes from 25 countries and territories including Thailand, China, South Korea and Japan.
Viet Nam sent the same line-up to take part in the event last year. They brought home one silver medal in the mixed doubles and one bronze in the trio event.
The team has sharpened their skills at the recent national championships.
