Phong Phu Ha Nam win U-19 Champs

Phong Phu Ha Nam defended their title at the National Women's Under-19 Football Championships after they defeated Ha Noi Trang An 2-0 in the final held in the northern province of Ha Nam on Tuesday. Ha Nam's Thanh Huong and Nguyen Thi Nguyet scored in the 32nd and 60th minutes of the match, respectively.

Third place in the tournament went to HCM City. The champion walked away with a US$1,900 cash prize.

Phong Phu Ha Nam's Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung was named the tournament's most valuable player and best scorer, while Lai Thi Tuyet was honoured as the best goalkeeper.

HTV to broadcast Premier League

Ha Noi Television (HTV) has announced that it has obtained the exclusive licence to offer free broadcasts of Barclays English Premier League matches for a second year.

HTV will air seven games in each round on its H1 and H2 channels, including at least three live broadcasts.

World Masters to hit Phan Thiet

Golfers will be competing in the World Masters at Phan Thiet city's Ocean Dunes Golf Club this weekend, organisers have said.

The event will see amateurs from around the world competing over two rounds for the championship.

Four players from each country will be eligible to participate in the team event in the coastal city, 160km east of HCM City, on Saturday and Sunday.

Sharpshooters aim at SEASA

A 31-member shooting squad from Viet Nam is set to compete at the Southeast Asian Shooting Championship, SEASA, in Vientiane, Laos on September 1-12.

The country's top sharpshooters will be using the competition as a warm up before the Southeast Asian Games in Indonesia this November.

Vietnamese athletes have registered to compete in the rifle, air rifle, air pistol, centrefire pistol, rapid-fired pistol and running target rifle events.

The team's hopes are on Dang Hong Ha, Tran Quoc Cuong, Hoang Xuan Vinh, Ha Minh Thanh and Pham Thi Ha.

The Viet Nam Shooting Federation will also send Nguyen Minh Chau, Duong Thi My Phuong and Duong Thi Chuc, who are all 20-year-old, to gain experience.
