Binh Duong has cycling success

Hosts Binh Duong topped the rankings at the National Cycling Championships after winning the competition with five golds, five silvers and four bronzes.

An Giang and HCM City came in second and third respectively. On Thursday's final day of racing, cyclists competed in the men's 140km and women's 80km race.

In the men's 140km race from the provinces of Binh Duong to Binh Phuoc and back, Bui Minh Thuy of Vinh Long overcame Huynh Thanh Tung of the People's Army team to finish first in a time of 3:27.32. Le Van Duan of HCM City crossed the finish line third in a time of 3:27.38.Ha Noi topped the team's rankings in this event, followed by Military team and HCM City.

The women's 80km race along Binh Duong Province included competitors from the hosts along with An Giang and Dong Thap. Phan Thi Lieu of An Giang sprinted successfully to finish first in a time of 2:12.09. Vo Thi Phuong Phi and Nguyen Phan Ngoc Trang, both from Binh Duong, were in second and third respectively. Thanks to the efforts of Phi and Trang, Binh Duong led the team rankings in that event, followed by Dong Thap and An Giang.

Amateur tennis players get set

As many as 150 amateurs nationwide will compete in the Tennis Forum – Viettenis.net Wilson Cup at Ha Noi's Indoor Athletics Centre this weekend.

Competitors are scheduled to compete in both men's and women's doubles events during the two-day tournament.

This will be the second time the tournament has been held at the tennis forum in Viet Nam.

Viet Nam to play Turkmenistan

Viet Nam's national team will play against Turkmenistan on the opening day of action at the Viet Nam Football Federation Cup on October 24 at Thong Nhat Stadium in HCM City. Fans will also have the opportunity to see the match between Laos and South Korea on the same day. The four participating teams will compete in a round-robin format. The hosts will meet Laos on October 26 and South Korea two days later.

Besides Vietnamese referees, Malaysians have been invited to take charge of the matches in the tournament. The final match will be played on October 28.
