VCCI to hold golf tournament at luxury King's Island course

Over 140 local and foreign resident golfers will compete in the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)


Challenge Series tournament at King's Island in Dong Mo District, 60km west of Ha Noi, on Saturday.

Men and women will challenge in the 0-16, 16-32 and over 32 handicap divisions.

The organisers said that the players will compete in shotgun format four rounds at the 18-hole championship course. The annual event, which started in 2005, is sponsored by the Ha Noi Hotel, Mercedes Benz, Acrhi Hoa Binh Group, Ha Noi Club and Hong Leong Bank.


Heineken World Golfer Champs attracts leading amateurs


Around 120 domestic and foreign golfers will compete in the Heineken World Golfer Championship, a leading amateur event being held for the first time in Viet Nam next month. Golfers will compete in three qualifying rounds held in Binh Duong on July 2, Da Nang on July 30 and HCM City on August 13, and the top 40 will go through to the final round in Da Nang on September 10.


Viet Nam to compete at world Sepak Takraw event


Vietnamese athletes are ready to compete at the World Sepak Takraw Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from July 21-24.

The event will attract 32 teams from 25 nations and territories such as Australia, China, Germany, India, Iran and Indonesia. It will be broadcast live in 66 countries.

The event will be a good warm up for top teams before the International Sepak Takraw Federation's Super Series that will be hosted in Bangkok this September.


Thousands await starters' gun as Run for Peace qualifiers begin


Ha Noi will launch the 38th annual Run for Peace at the Quan Ngua Sports Centre on Sunday.

The event will see over 60,000 athletes from teams across the capital competing in qualifying races over the next four months.

Male and female athletes will test their endurance over 800m and 1,500m, and the top athletes will qualify for the final in October.

Around 1,000 athletes are expected to take part in the final that will take place around Hoan Kiem Lake to celebrate the 57th anniversary of Ha Noi's liberation (October 10).
