Vietnam win first game at U-19 women's football qualifiers

 

The Vietnam U-19 women's football team recorded an impressive 3-0 victory over Uzbekistan at the 2011 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-19 Women's Football Championship Qualifiers in Malaysia on October 23.

Hai Yen scored two goals for Vietnam in the 67th and 87th minutes before Nguyen Thi Nguyet sealed the 3-0 win for Vietnam in the last minute of the game.

U-19 Vietnam will take on U-19 Iran today.

The second round of the 2011 AFC U-19 Women's Football Championship Qualifiers brought together five teams: Vietnam, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei and Iran.

The teams are competing in a round robin to decide the top team to play in the final round with the top five teams from last season including Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, China and Australia.

Trang’s hat trick fires girls into second round  
The Vietnam’s girl’s U16 team has qualified for the second round of the U16 Asian Cup 2011 after crushing Guam 5-0 on October 25.

Phan Thi Trang fired in a hat trick while Le Con Hoai Luong and Chuong Thi Kieu each scored a goal.

After the first qualifying round, Vietnam ranks first in group A with 12 points  and is the only team in Group A to play in the second round of the Asian Cup 2011, which will begin in Thailand on December 2.

U-21 Vietnam demolish U-21 Myanmar

Vietnam trounced Myanmar 5-1 in the opening match of the International U-21 Football Tournament at Thong Nhat stadium, in Ho Chi Minh City, yesterday.

Vietnam dominated the game from the beginning and The Hung opened the scoring in the 15th minute. But Phyo Koko scored the equaliser in the 28th minute due to the Vietnamese defence’s mistake.

After the break, Vietnam continued to dominate the match, producing a lot of chances to score. Huu Phat gave Vietnam the lead in the 67th minute with his goal from the penalty spot. Two minutes later, Trong Phi widened the gap with his wonderful header. Duc Tai fired the fourth goal in the 76th minute before Le Van Cong scored the fifth in the 89th minute, sealing a 5-1 victory over Myanmar.

Earlier in another match, U-21 Malaysia drew 1-1 with U-21 Singapore.

The event this year attracted four teams from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar and two hosts teams, U-21 and U-19.

U-19 Vietnam will take on Singapore while Thailand will play Myanmar today.

National and Olympic teams help flood victims

The Vietnam national men's football team will play Hai Phong Cement in a friendly match on November 16 to raise funds for flood victims in the Central region, announced the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) yesterday.

This friendly match will take place at Lach Tray stadium in the northern city of Hai Phong after the national team completes their matches at the International Football Tournament - VFF Sonha Cup 2010 in Hanoi from November 2-6.

All proceeds from ticket sales, as well as money donated by spectators, will be sent to people in the flood-hit central provinces.

Members the national and Olympic teams have decided to contribute VND 1 million each to join with the rest of the country to help people in flood-hit areas overcome difficulties and stabilise their lives and production as soon as possible.

The national team also plans to auction a Yamaha motorcycle, the prize for the most outstanding player in Vietnam at the Thang Long-Hanoi Millennium International Football Cup, to raise funds for the flood victims.

The Vietnamese players are currently practising at My Dinh national stadium to prepare for the two biggest events of the year, the 16th Asian Games for the Olympic team and the 2010 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup for the national team.
